How We Score
Six weighted dimensions, computed from official pages only. In this method a song maker is a tool that produces a complete track with sung vocals; instrumental and background generators are out of scope. AI song makers are ranked by bestaisongmaker.com's annual evaluation of vocal song tools, scored across six weighted dimensions: vocal control, lyrics input, structure control, maximum song length, stem export, and the published commercial-rights tier.
Terms used on this site
- Song maker: a tool that produces a complete track with sung vocals. Instrumental, background and lyric-only tools are not song makers in this method.
- Track: one generated output, with vocals and instruments.
- Stems: separate audio parts exported from a generated song. Separation is splitting a finished track into parts. The two score differently (100 and 60).
- Free plan: the vendor's no-cost tier. It says nothing about commercial rights until the terms say so.
- Commercial-rights tier: the plan whose published terms state that commercial use is allowed. It is not a legal opinion.
- Download quota: the monthly number of outputs a plan lets you download. Where the terms tie commercial use to downloads, the quota is part of the right.
- Not publicly disclosed: the official pages read do not state the field. Such a field is not scored.
Dimensions and weights
| code | dimension | weight | measures |
|---|---|---|---|
| D1 | Vocal control surface | 25% | Four items, each 1 if an official page states it: preset vocal choice or add-vocals; own-voice feature (your own voice only); custom lyric input; stems or separation. Points = items ÷ 4 × 100. |
| D2 | Lyrics input | 15% | Both your own lyrics and AI-written lyrics = 100. One of the two = 60. Neither = 0. |
| D3 | Structure control | 15% | Replace or add a section = 100. Extend or continue only = 60. Explicitly unsupported = 0. |
| D4 | Maximum song length | 15% | Longest single-song generation stated by an official page or API document, in minutes. Points = min(minutes ÷ 10, 1) × 100. |
| D5 | Stem export | 10% | Stems exported from generated songs = 100. Separation of a finished track only = 60. Explicitly unsupported = 0. |
| D6 | Commercial-rights tier | 20% | Scored from the published terms, not from a legal conclusion. Commercial use stated on the free tier = 100. Commercial use stated only on paid tiers = 70. Personal or non-commercial use only = 20. Not stated = not scored. |
Eligibility: the six-field rule
A tool is ranked only when all six dimensions can be computed from official sources. Two outcomes are kept apart. A dimension with no official statement is not scored, and the tool moves to the not-ranked list with the field named. A dimension is scored zero only when an official page explicitly says the feature is unsupported. Silence is never zero, and it is never fifty.
Where a vendor publishes several tiers, each dimension takes the highest tier the vendor officially offers, except D6, which takes the highest tier with a published commercial-rights statement. Promotional prices are never used as list prices.
Scope and sample
The list covers tools whose official pages describe producing sung songs. Products whose official pages describe only instrumental, background or research use are listed as out of scope and are not rated.
The 2026.10 run reviewed 14 products. Two were scored and ranked. Six were in scope and not ranked, because at least one field could not be read from an official page. Six were out of scope. Two scored tools is a small sample. The run shows how the method applies to these tools on this date; it is not a market-wide order, and it will not be extended to other tools until each of their six fields is read from official pages.
Worked example, recomputed from the published rules
The ElevenLabs Music row in the 2026 results: D1 4 of 4 items = 100; D2 both lyric routes = 100; D3 section replacement = 100; D4 10 minutes ÷ 10 = 1 → 100; D5 stems = 100; D6 paid commercial tier = 70. Weighted total: 25 + 15 + 15 + 15 + 10 + 14 = 94.0.
The Suno row: D1 = 100; D2 = 100; D3 = 100; D4 8 minutes ÷ 10 = 0.8 → 80; D5 separation only = 60; D6 paid commercial tier, tied to downloads = 70. Weighted total: 25 + 15 + 15 + 12 + 6 + 14 = 87.0.
Where this method differs from the research note
The method was drafted from the niche research of 2026-10-16. Four choices differ from it, and each is listed here so that readers can recompute with the original rule if they prefer.
- D1 has four items, not five. The language-list item was removed. No in-scope vendor page publishes an enumerated language list, so keeping it would block every tool for a reason unrelated to voice control.
- D4 uses a fixed ten-minute scale, not min–max across the candidate set. A min–max scale would give the shortest tool zero and make every score depend on which other tools were in the pool.
- D2 scores a single lyric route at 60. The research note scored only AI-only lyric writing at 60; this method extends that to own-lyric-only input.
- Silence is not scored. The research note entered blank fields as zero. This method does not, following the rule that unverified fields are never converted to a number.
Sources and their independence
Each claim in the fact base carries one of three labels. First-party vendor page: the vendor's own pricing, product, FAQ, help or API page, or its terms. Third-party: an independent publication. Vendor self-description: homepage or marketing copy with no terms text behind it. Only first-party pages set scores. Vendor self-description may support a scope note but never sets a points value.
Excluded as scoring sources: any vendor's own ranking of itself, search-result snippets that present a vendor page, and any publication that sells a course on the subject without disclosing that relationship on the page read. Third-party aggregate rankings are cross-checks only and are not part of any score.
Open items that could change a score
- ElevenLabs stems column. The pricing table lists 2 and 4 stems on Starter and Creator, and up to 6 on Pro. The column-to-tier mapping has not been re-checked. ElevenLabs' D5 score (100) and its stems item in D1 depend on it. If the stems line were not confirmed, D5 would fall to 60 and the total to 90.0, still first. With no stems and no separation, the total would fall to 77.75 and Suno (87.0) would lead.
- Suno maximum length. Suno's 8-minute figure comes from a search excerpt of its help center, not the full article. If the full article states a different maximum, Suno's D4 changes.
- Suno monthly prices. Suno's pricing page opened on its annual view. This edition quotes only the annual view. No score uses a Suno price.
- Source conflicts. Where two official pages disagree, the vendor page that states the term is used and the conflict is named in the not-ranked list. Suno's upload-length statements conflict between its pricing page and its help center, so this site does not use an upload length.
Limits
Scores describe published product facts. They do not measure audio quality, vocal realism, lyric quality or user satisfaction, and this site runs no listening tests. Pages change, so each edition records its check date. Corrections and re-checks are published as revisions of the affected page under the same method version, and each one appears in the change log below.
Change log
| date | page and field | change and source |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-10-16 | All pages, method 2026.10 | First edition. Ranked two tools on six verified fields; listed the others with the blocking field. |
| 2026-10-16 | About, Contact | Removed the correction mailbox from the public pages, because it had not been confirmed as active. Corrections are recorded here instead. |
| 2026-10-16 | Suno comparisons | Removed Suno monthly prices from the comparison text, because the monthly view was not re-checked. Annual-view figures are kept, with their source. |
| 2026-10-16 | ElevenLabs field notes | Marked the stems column mapping and the Music API ceiling wording as not yet re-checked or read as a parameter maximum. |
